“South Asheville doesn’t vote.” I heard that over and over again during the last year. That’s the perception around here and it’s about time that we changed it.
Early voting continues this week through Saturday, November 5th in Buncombe County. The hours are 10am to 6pm Monday – Friday and 8am – 1pm on Saturday. There are two locations in South Asheville: 1) South Buncombe Library (aka Skyland Library) at 260 Overlook Road (near Estes Elementary) and 2) New Hope Presbyterian Church at 3070 Sweeten Creek Road (near Givens Estates). Through Monday, Oct. 31st, 43% of all registered Democrats, 35% of all registered Republicans, and 31% of registered Unaffiliated in Buncombe County have already voted. (For those of you interested in NC early voting data, I suggest this website.)
In addition to national and statewide races, the composition of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners positions will also be decided. These individuals have significant influence on development policy within the County. Several news sources have compiled information on the candidates (at least for those who took the time to respond) that can be found at the following websites: Asheville Blade, Mountain Xpress (make sure you scroll down), and the Citizen-Times.
Get out and vote!
