Duke Energy has proposed building an electrical substation at the intersection of Sweeten Creek and Mills Gap Roads. While we are continuing to try to get additional information, the initial proposal would include a 1.8 mile transmission line on steel H-frames that could be between 60 to 105 high. A news article from March 2016 on the proposed substation can be found here.
Duke has proposed several substations in Downtown Asheville and residents have pushed back. We are continuing to monitor the proposal and will post updates when we have them.
